Just people don’t tweet about their neighbors’ shortcomings.

Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly — Matthew 1: 19

We live in a world where we can’t wait for an opportunity to slander someone.

  • Employees slandering their bosses. Bosses slandering employees.
  • Spouses backbiting each other.
  • Friends constantly reminding each other of their failures.

I like when this scripture says Joseph was a just man. And being a just man, he didn’t want to humiliate his wife-to-be. He had all the right to publicly humiliate her but he didn’t.

Just people don’t humiliate their friends in front of other people. Just people don’t tweet about their friends’ shortcomings. Just people don’t sit around and eagerly listen to gossip about other people. Just people don’t wait to eagerly remind their friends of their shortcomings.

Just people go out of their way to cover a multitude of sins, the way Jesus covered our sins and has promised never to remember them.
